Everyone knows there are 52 weeks in a year right? I’m sure hoping that is common knowledge these days. So 52 weeks means 52 weekends doesn't it, yeah? And most weddings take place over the weekend…. so, I’m not quite sure how she has done it- but one photographer managed to capture a whopping 53 weddings in 2014!! Let’s all just take a moment to appreciate the efforts of Toobeah (near Goondiwindi, QLD) based wedding photographer Edwina Robertson.
Edwina has had quite some practice over the years having worked in real estate photography for 4 years prior to 2012. 2012 was a turning point in her career, it was the year she made the switch from real estate to the glamorous wedding scene. Being truly inspired by the stories behind each couple has kept her in the wedding game.
What an awesome job! While at work Edwina gets to see moving ceremonies, eat all the delicious food, meet amazing people, rip up the dance floor and take fantastic candid (natural not posey) photos that capture the magic of each wedding.
It’s safe to say that I’m jealous. Someone pass me a camera.
“A wedding day is far from just smiles. It’s often filled with tears, joy, sadness, vulnerability and laughter.” Explains Edwina, who says her aim is to capture all of this in photos for the couple to keep and use to reflect upon the milestone for years to come. Couples will pay a slightly higher than average cost for her services, but this is simply because of the TIME and EFFORT Edwina puts into so accurately capturing the event. Photography coverage usually occupies 15 hours of the big day (which is significantly greater than what the competition offers), each shot is of as it happens- meaning no mock shots of a cut cake, and Edwina is based in Toobeah (which, lets’ face it is pretty much the middle of nowhere) so it is understandable that the cost be higher to cover any travel.
Edwina pours her heart into her work. It’s her pride and joy. She WANTS to cover the weddings of our rural brides, so let her. Edwina says that while taking photos is her priority, right up there is making sure you have THE BEST DAY EVERRR!!
So note to self: if I ever get married please ask Edwina Robertson Photography to do the honours, because the way I see it- She is like a bridesmaid with a camera.
On that note of bridesmaid with a camera… please don’t. Not the bridesmaid, your Mum, Dad or great aunt Rose should be handed the responsibility of wedding photographer. Not even if they have one of those wiz-bang super massive, expensive, DSLR cameras. Just DON’T. Take it from a wedding photographer (Edwina, not me, I couldn’t take a decent selfie let alone a wedding photo) who has seen the devastation of amateur photos. Leave it to the experts.
