Seriously I’m not even engaged and I fuss over this question all the time. If I were to be married would I want a sophisticated updo, a relaxed updo, a half-half do, bohemian waves, what?
I’ve had a little search on Pinterest (and when I say little I mean a solid 3hr search) for the perfect wedding hairstyle and I am none the wiser.
There are just so many ways you can wear your bridal hair and following trends isn’t going to help. I asked hair stylist Candice, from Hair by Candice in Mudgee NSW, what she thought the latest bridal hair trends were. Candice told me that very natural styles are in, floral crowns and floral headpieces are still very much on trend, but then the opposite end of the spectrum is on trend at the moment too. Very classic, big beautiful buns and slick, deliberate hairstyles are in.
Candice is a seasoned pro, she’s been styling hair for the last 6 years and has always loved and wanted to do hair as her Mother and Grandmother are hairdressers. So I trust her opinions 100%.
Candice says that her favourite styles for a bridal party right now are:
Bride- a natural bohemian wave with floral crown Bridesmaids- classic soft updo. Messy braids and fishtails are really nice.
Basically very done but undone hairstyles. I asked for Candice’s opinion for the bridesmaid’s hair, should they all have the same style? “Its nice to have bridesmaids uniform in photos, but I think its important for them to feel comfortable. I’ve had brides say that they want a braid incorporated into the bridesmaid’s hair somehow but they didn’t care how, which was nice because it meant that each girl could have something that suited them but they still had the element of unity through the braids.” I also asked what advice would she give a bride about her wedding day hairstyle? “It’s your wedding day. Whatever you’re comfortable with, just go for it. Be timeless and classic but with your own spin.”
With all that in mind don’t forget to book your hairstylist well in advance! Allow for around 5-6 hours on the morning of the wedding to have everyone’s hair done.
Sometimes you wont need all this time for hair, but you’ll be thankful you left enough time when all of a sudden your Mother and future Mother in law decide they want their hair done too.
All photos are of hair done by Candice. She is an extremely talented lady who LOVES what she does and has said she is willing to travel ANYWHERE for her job.
