The planning all started when we got engaged on 4th Feb 2017, quick to decide we would love photos in a wheat crop, so what a good time to have it early October when Harvest was about to begin. We had always dreamed about our country wedding on a property in a big hay shed, then to discover the lovely Mt Abundance Homestead in Roma QLD, we were sold!
The morning of our wedding it was steady rain, we headed off to Afros Studio in Roma to get our Hair and Make up done. The girls were great there! I had the most relaxing morning whilst the rain was still falling. The boys were continuing with last minute set up of items then headed back to start getting ready at Explorers Inn.
Once hair and make up was finished, us girls headed back to Overlander Motel to get into our dresses and take some snaps. Our photographer Rowena (Rowena Dione Photography - Gatton QLD) was amazing and has taken so many lovely photos. We stepped outside our motel room to discover the sun was shining and the clouds were disappearing. It was incredible to even think it had been raining for the last 4 days!
Our ceremony was held at the Mt Abundance Homestead, 5km west of Roma Qld. The old homestead has some history to it as it was built in 1800's. The homestead was open through the wait for the beginning of our ceremony. We got married under the beautiful big bottle tree that is over 150 years old. It was transplanted by hand in approx. 1875 as a reasonable sized tree so could be older.
We then had our reception at the Hodgson Hall, which was a perfect country hall. Roma Wedding & Event Hire did a great job in supplying and setting up all the tables, chairs and decorations. Our catering was done by SEA Catering in Mitchell who done a wonderful job and our cake was made by Lee's Spellbinding Cakes who are also based in Roma.
The night was so magical with a beautiful full moon lighting up the sky. We had the most wonderful day anyone could ask for. The weather was on our side and my piece of advice I can give to any bride is to plan the day you and your partner want to have and take every minute of your wedding day in as it goes so fast!
